Family Friends of Scouting – In-Kind Donation Credit Program
- Help your unit reach its FOS goal through gift cards/certificates from local businesses.
- In-kind donations reduce costs and strengthen local Scouting.
- Businesses can receive recognition for supporting youth programs.
How It Works
- Units secure gift cards / certificates from local businesses.
- Please coordinate through the Unit Leaders who will ask each business in the local community.
- 50 % of Fair market value of donations counts toward the unit’s FOS campaign.
- Expiration dates should be no sooner than September, 2026
- Expiration dates preferably December 31, 2026 or later
- Submit gift cards / certificates to the District Executive for credit.
- Gift certificates will be raffled off through Council Events
- Friends of Scouting window clings and stickers will be available for Scouts to thank the businesses.
Sample Business Ask Script
Scout:
Hi! My name is [Scout Name], and I’m with [Unit Type & Number] here in the community. Thank you for taking a moment to talk with me.
Our Scouting program helps kids learn leadership, character, and outdoor skills, and we’re reaching out to local businesses who might like to support what we do.
We’re asking community partners to consider donating a gift card or gift certificate. These donations help our Scouts by supporting activities, events, and awards throughout the year.
Your support would:
- Directly help local youth in our community
- Earn recognition as a Friends of Scouting supporter
