Volunteer grants are a type of corporate philanthropy in which companies provide monetary grants to organizations where their employees regularly volunteer. If you volunteer with us, it’s an easy way to provide us with additional financial support!

How do I request a matching gift or volunteer grant?

Requesting a matching gift or volunteer grant is normally a five minute process which must be initiated by the donor / volunteer. You can do this by filling out and submitting a paper match form provided by your employer or through an electronic submission process.

How Your Donation Makes a Positive Impact For The Families of the Susquehanna Council.

The Susquehanna Council is a 501c3 non-profit organization that relies on individuals like you to help keep the Council running, the Scouting Movement going forward, and our Council Camp operates year-round. Individual donations are tax deductible.

Be Prepared. More than a motto. No organization delivers adventure and values like Scouting. It’s the heart of what we do. Right here in the Susquehanna Council, our Scouts are learning more than just how to tie a knot and collect badges. We are preparing our Scouts to lead effectively, manage conflict, become role models and set goals for their futures.

Supporting the Susquehanna Council’s Operating Fund helps ensure that local families have access to the Scouting program and activities:

• Council website and activity registration system.
• Year-round maintenance of Camp Karoondinha and the Williamsport Scout Service Center.
• Leadership training: volunteers, camp staff, board, professional staff.
• Volunteer support and communication.
• Liability and accident insurance for youth and adults.
• Council Service Center and customer service support.
• Year-round program materials, electricity, and fuel at Camp Karoondinha.

Thank you for donating to the Susquehanna Council. Your donation will be used to support the operating fund which covers costs for day to day operations of the Service Center, Council properties, and program support (see How Your Donation Makes a Positive Impact section on this page). 

• If you would decide to designate some of your matching funds/volunteer hour funds for anything besides the Susquehanna Operation Fund (example:  Your Unit) the following policy will apply:
  • You can designate up to 60% of the funds to a Unit or Council Committee.
    • The Funds must be used for an expense that is at the Council, example:  Membership, Event Registration, Camp Fees, etc.
    • You must email susq.fundraising@scouting.org to inform the Council of your designation. 
    • The designated funds must be used within a year. Unused funds will be transferred to the council operating fund on the anniversary date.
  • 40% of the total funds will go into the operating fund to support Council expenses.
